you just cant get good hospital radio on a trolley. Beaumont Hospital Radio has closed down, I met an ex WXTC DJ who worked on Near FM and he was telling me that Beaumont Hospital Radio closed. Every time I visited the hospital over the last 2 years the studio seemed vacant. Radiowaves.fm reported the closure on April 12th 2007.
Beaumont Radio have closed down after all. The station, which broadcast to Beaumont Hospital in north Dublin, are off air on a permanent basis following months of apparent indecision.
News of Beaumont Radio’s impending closure first broke just before Christmas following the sad death of the station’s stalwart presenter Glen Lee. The story was later denied and Beaumont management stated their intention to reapply for their licence, which was set to expire next year. However they are now claiming that a lack of listener interest, coupled with the high-running costs of keeping the radio station on the air, have forced them to pull the plug.
Premier FM are back again this weekend and Sundays waking to Derek Jones (ex radio valleri) takes me back to a special place..!
