The first results in the Northern Ireland council elections are now in.
Counting to determine who will claim the 582 council seats got under way at 0900 BST.
A total of 918 candidates are contesting the seats across the province’s 26 council areas.

did I read that right? you have better than a 1 in 2 chance of winning? when I ran in the locals last June in the South, there were 10 candidates and only 3 seats, greater than a 1 in 3 chance. Does NI have a political problem finding able contenders?
