RTÉ is pleased to announce an extension of their radio services, with effect from March 17, 2004, St. Patrick’s Day. From then, RTÉ Radio 1 will be available throughout the island of Ireland, in Britain and parts of Europe on Long Wave 252.

this is a welcome move, 14 years after giving the freq. away to foreign company its back in use by the country that owns 252. It may not have come back to RTE if teamtalk who bought it off Atlantic 252 had not gone bust. The fact that the service is a direct relay of Radio 1 means Irish audience will have no new content to listen to, racing soccer and more hard news from RTE on 252 would be welcome, but at least the valves will glow again on LW from 32bit Erin.
