On Friday 6th November, Team Theatre<\/b> visited St. Mary's Secondary School,\u00a0Baldoyle. \u00a0They presented a new play, commissioned for them, called "Skin\u00a0and Blisters"<\/b><\/span> to our Second and Third Year students. \u00a0St. Mary's was one of\u00a0only six schools in Fingal chosen to host the performance.<\/p>\n

The play dealt with the themes of body image, self esteem and girl-on-girl\u00a0bullying<\/b>. \u00a0The acting was first class and even though the set was hastily\u00a0prepared, it was very striking and caught everyone's imagination on entry.<\/p>\n

The play lasted one hour and later each year group then participated in one\u00a0hour long workshops.<\/p>\n

The girls enjoyed themselves immensely while also learning a great deal.\u00a0Some described the play as "really great" and "brilliant" while the\u00a0accompanying music really added to the performance. \u00a0"It was a very honest\u00a0production" that dealt with a number of issues including "an eating disorder\u00a0and its effects on the body<\/b>".<\/p>\n

The set consisted on a circular centre stage surrounded by seating. \u00a0The\u00a0whole set was surrounded by six foot high panelling with large sized photos\u00a0of famous celebrities. \u00a0The photos generated interest everyone's attention\u00a0was caught when they were later turned around to show photos of the effects\u00a0that eating disorders had on people.<\/p>\n
